Valera is a missionary of the Steiger organization, musician and Jesus follower. He dedicated his whole life to sharing Jesus with young generation. Valera is traveling frequently with the team of missionaries and believes that we have to show to the modern generation real living Jesus and not just talk about Him.
"I grew up in a church when my father was serving as a pastor. I followed my dad and mom's example in the church ministries. But I received my own calling later. When I was announced as a youth pastor, I was only 23 and knew nothing about the ministry. So, I went to study in the Steiger School for leaders. There I first heard about Steiger' vision to reach out young people beyond church' walls. This touched my heart and though I have been refusing it for a while I finally heard the voice of God. For the first time in my life, and I was sure it was Him, I would never mix it up with something else".
Valera is convinced that the youth all over the world has lots in common nowadays. This makes sharing faith much easier.
"If you took guys from London, New York, Kiev and placed them in a row, they would look very similar – we wear similar cloths, we look similar, we even listen to the same music.
But our generation has also lots of stereotypes and barriers towards church and religion. My own calling is to demonstrate real strong Jesus with whom they can build relationships today. Many people consider Jesus as a character from history, as a religion of our grandparents that has nothing to do with modern us. I want them to see it's not true."
Yet without having God inside we cannot serve others and give them something that we do not have ourselves. That is why our ministries are secondary and primary are relationships with God.
Valera's ministry consists not only of evangelization tours or concerts that he plays with a band. Serving is his life style. Every day he is in contact with those who need support.
"We do travel a lot as missionaries and take part in events. But after concerts or trips I stay in contact with people, follow them on social media and keep answering their questions. I believe that none of your gospel events will be successful if you don't take responsibility of people you preached at.
Some Christians believe that the goal is converting of a non-Christian to faith. But this is just a start. You must help them meeting Jesus so that they become willing to come to church. I communicate online, meet them for coffee and support in their doubts. It helps me to strengthen my own faith as well."
I life lived for oneself is an empty and meaningless life.
Today there are many delusions concerning faith and Christ. Valera is the one who is showing on his own example that life of a Christian is fascinating and multifarious. You just need to meet Jesus personally and then everything changes.
"I usually say to my guys that life with Jesus is the coolest adventure that you ever could have had. People leave churches only because they never have meet real Jesus. They might have seen or heard something but never encountered Him.
I have no idea where I am going to be tomorrow, what is expecting me in a year; the place where I am right now is something I could not even have dreamed of! All because of following Jesus."
If you are consistent in following Jesus your life is going to be a real adventure.
At the very beginning of his life in mission Valera was seeking for God's face and cried out to Him a question which tormented him: "Why I read about so many miracles in the Bible and I see none of them in my real life?" This was the day when God first talked to him.
"Once we were in Columbia on a tour. I travel around the world with my band, we talk to young people about Jesus in a relevant manner. A young guy came to talk to us after concert, he just has accepted Jesus as his own Savior. I asked him about his dream. He answered he dreams about break dancing, but he injured his arm in a car accident and since that time its not moving properly and hurts.
I immediately offered a prayer so God could heal him. Of course, I was afraid to take such a risky step in front of a non-Christian guy. We prayed twice until pain in his arm completely passed off. He even started doing push-ups. He was shocked and began crying. Next evening he came with his brother.
As you see there is not so much required for a miracle. I believe that every young person may and should serve God and God is going to use him or her. We only need to be bold to step out our comfort zone and take the responsibility."
Valera is sure that church is being build on a deep personal revelation about who is Jesus to each of us.
He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?"
Simon Peter replied,"You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."
And Jesus answered him,"Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven.
And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
If you got this revelation no person, no world, no program or gates of hell can shake your faith.
"Jesus said to the disciples "Go and make disciples of all nations. You are going to do even more than I did. I am going to prepare a place for you in Father's house". This is a key message for our life, this is an activation of our faith. If we are not doing what we believe in, our faith is dead. As soon as you start sharing Jesus your faith is raising alive, so do you."
